The Garden Table’s textures and colors help it harmonize with many types of outdoor furniture.

As the slide show below reveals, its appearance only improves with time.

Ah, that we could all age so gracefully!
Not so long ago, only those of royal blood sat on chairs, while commoners stood in their presence or sat on the floor. The presence of a table in a room evinced a similar sense of hierarchy. To this day, being seated at “the Captain’s Table,” or sitting at the “head of the table” are signs of honor, while standing on a table, or even placing one’s elbows on the table, are thought to be uncouth. We still recall, however dimly, the table’s regal lineage.

The Garden Table is composed entirely of reclaimed and repurposed pine. In that regard, it is our most environmentally-friendly product. And its rough textures and variegated colors make it a “natural” on a lawn, garden, or deck. On the other hand, its classic proportions and myriad textures are no less attractive in a family room or classroom setting. Its versatility is enhanced by three available versions: side-table, coffee table, and dining room table.

As plywood, formica, and other composite materials become more prevalent in kitchens and workshops alike, the resilience and beauty of real wooden table tops grows more coveted and costly. The working surface of our Shop & Kitchen Table is manufactured in an early 20th century factory not far from our home. Their methods, and much of their machinery, has changed little in over a century, and their commitment to quality is rare in our time. Our table tops are maple and oak, 1.5” thick, and solid as a rock. These surfaces will last for decades of hard use - and still be among the most attractive pieces of furniture in your home.

Our “Shop & Kitchen Table” moves with ease between the world of the artisan and the world of the cook, the two vocations that democratized the royal table. Both carpenter and cook need a clearly demarcated space that is versatile enough to accommodate a variety of tools or appliances, that is resilient, stain and incision-resistant, that cleans easily and manifests utility and beauty in equal measure.

The Butcher Block Tray may be thought of as a mobile version of the Shop & Kitchen Table. Its surface is a one-inch thick slab of maple and/or red oak butcher block, and its thin, strong walls are red oak. Two finely-faceted oak handles provide a secure grip.

And if you are a cat that has been sternly warned to stay off the dining room table, just calmly explain that you are in the tray, not on the table.

The food-quality virgin olive oil finish and the fine-grained maple wood combine to make a surface that is impervious to spills and highly stain-resistant. Suitable for warm and cold foods and utensils, the tray can be used as an outdoor cutting board if needed.
